The Snowdon Lily (Gagea serotina), formerly known as Lloydia serotina, is a rare Arctic–alpine flowering plant belonging to the lily family. It is native to mountainous regions across western North America, Europe, and parts of Asia. In Great Britain, it is notably found in Snowdonia, Wales, where it grows on north-facing, inaccessible ledges and rocky crevices, often out of reach from grazing animals. The plant features delicate, white, cup-shaped flowers veined with white or mauve, and has wiry, rush-like leaves. It typically blooms from late May to early July. The Snowdon Lily has evolved to self-pollinate due to the harsh weather conditions in its high-altitude habitats, which can limit the presence of pollinating insects.
