Amish Paste tomatoes are kitchen treasures, known for their large, meaty fruits that shine in sauces and beyond. This heirloom variety yields bright red tomatoes weighing 8 to 12 ounces, ranging from plum to oxheart shapes with smooth, firm skin that resists cracking—great for canning, sauces, or fresh eating. The flesh is thick and juicy, offering a rich, slightly sweet tomato flavor.

Why grow Amish Paste? Hailing from Wisconsin’s Amish communities since the late 1800s, this indeterminate plant reaches 4–6 feet with support, producing consistent yields through the season. Its vigorous growth and cracking resistance make it a dependable choice for gardeners who value versatility and robust taste in their tomatoes.

Grown naturally and pesticide-free, our Amish Paste starter plants arrive strong and ready to perform in your garden. Nurtured with care, they deliver a hearty crop of these timeless tomatoes for your table.

Healthy plant

I received my Amish Paste tomato plant last week, and it’s doing great! They packaged my plants with care.

From Amanda | July 30, 2024

purchaser

Grew Amish Paste for the first time last year, second year ordering from GrowJoy. Plants did not need hardening like those from other vendors. Fruits were huge, solid and with few seeds. Flavor was excellent. My favorite for BLT's and canning.

So much potential!

My entire order was shipped with a care, and the plants clearly show the same kind of care was taken to grow them. I was so excited for this plant in particular, it was already sturdy and established when it arrived so I just knew it was going to be a fast grower. I was definitely proven right in a couple weeks! Unfortunately, it looks like its succumbing to curly top virus. It's about 2.5 ft tall and hasn't/won't set bloosoms. It's a total bummer. I'm not entirely sure if it was infected before it arrived or after transplanting, regardless though, I'm going to give it another shot!

Get a big pot

Within a month of arriving on my doorstep, these two plants are in good shape. I put one in a 20” pot and it has doubled in size and has buds already. I put the other in a 12” pot and it’s more sluggish and smaller.

AMISH PASTE

Very well pleased with the plants I received. The plants arrived strong and healthy and undamaged. The only reason this is not rated five stars is that I have only had the plants for a week, so of course, have not tasted the harvest. I have every confidence I will continue to be well pleased.
