Plant Features

The Clerodendrum thomsoniae, commonly called Bleeding Heart Vine, produces bushy vines with delicate white, balloon-like flowers topped with bright crimson and dark green leaves. These long-lasting blooms provide nectar for hummingbird gardens all summer long. Bleeding Heart Vine is an enthusiastic grower that will reach 3 to 5 feet when grown as an annual in containers. It can also be pruned back for a bushier look, allowed to ramble up a trellis, or trail from a hanging basket.

Our Dicentra Plants are lovingly grown without harmful pesticides, ensuring they are a safe and elegant addition to your garden. Guaranteed to arrive healthy and ready to thrive!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Best planted in early spring or fall for strong root development

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges
  • - Additional feeding is not usually necessary, but compost can be added in fall

Pruning and Training:

  • - Deadhead spent blooms to encourage a longer blooming period
  • - Cut back foliage after flowering to ground level in late fall or after the first frost

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Generally pest-free, but slugs and snails may occasionally appear in damp conditions
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues like powdery mildew

Very Happy

Arrived super strong and healthy, bloomed almost immediately and from Spring to September so far. (zone 9b) Love it.

Nice plant

My plant arrived in good condition with small buds. The buds have yet to open. The plant appears healthy even after a month and is growing nicely. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that I waited over a month before finally contacting customer service about where my order was. Somehow it shipped the very next Monday. There definitely seems to be a problem with their ordering system.
