Plant Features

Brandywine Black tomatoes are garden boldsters, celebrated for their dark, flavorful fruits that pack a punch. This heirloom variety yields deep reddish-purple tomatoes weighing 10 to 14 ounces, with smooth, firm skin—ideal for slicing into sandwiches, salads, or fresh eating. The flesh is juicy and meaty, offering a rich, complex tomato flavor with sweet and earthy notes.

Why grow Brandywine Black? A twist on the 1800s Brandywine line with potato-leaf foliage, this indeterminate plant reaches 4–6 feet with support, producing a steady crop through the season. It’s a vigorous choice for gardeners craving unique taste and color, thriving until frost with no specific disease resistance.

Grown naturally and pesticide-free, our Brandywine Black starter plants arrive vibrant and ready to flourish in your garden. Nurtured with care, they promise a rewarding harvest of these distinctive tomatoes.

Black brandywine tomato

All plants are doing great they were a little stressed when I received them but not bad they just needed a little water. It took 3 days to get to me and the weather was extremely hot. I believe the weather was the only reason why the plants were stressed

Beautifully shipped plants

The plants received were hearty and ready for planting they have done quite well since planting. Most impressive, however, was the packaging for delivery cross country. It was so supportive and secure that I commented many ambulances don't do as good a job transporting humans. Great work.

Outstanding packaging

Plants were extremely healthy and took off as soon as I re-potted. Not in garden yet. Still not warm enough. Was shipped at proper time but we are way below norms for this time of year. Plants surrounded by plastic shields to protect them. Best packaging of plants I have ever seen!
