This Torch Lily, or Red Hot Poker, as some refer to them, is purely reminiscent of the "dreamsicle creamsicles" of old. You know, those yummy, orange, sherbet popsicles with vanilla ice cream inside? This dwarf variety is sure to fit somewhere in your garden and is well-worth having! This is the color of summer!

Our Kniphofia Plants, also known as Red Hot Poker, are grown without harmful pesticides, ensuring they are a safe and striking addition to your garden. Guaranteed to arrive healthy and ready to thrive!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Best planted in spring or fall for optimal root establishment
  • - Space plants 18-24 inches apart to allow for mature growth and airflow

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.0
  • - Prefers well-drained soil; thrives in sandy or gritty soil types

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water thoroughly when first planted, allowing the soil to dry between waterings
  • - Once established, Kniphofia is drought-tolerant and requires minimal watering

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to encourage strong growth
  • - Avoid excessive fertilization to prevent leggy growth

Pruning and Training:

  • - Remove spent flower spikes to encourage new blooms and tidy up the plant
  • - Cut back old foliage in late fall or early spring to promote fresh growth

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Kniphofia is generally pest-resistant but may occasionally attract slugs and snails
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues

Blooming Indicators:

  • - Blooms from late spring through summer with tall spikes of tubular flowers in shades of red, orange, and yellow

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Hardy in USDA zones 5-9, tolerates heat and drought once established

Companion Plants for Kniphofia:

  • - Echinacea: Complements Kniphofia’s bold spikes with vibrant daisy-like blooms
  • - Salvia: Adds vertical spikes of blue or purple for a striking contrast with Kniphofia’s warm tones
  • - Achillea: Pairs well with Kniphofia’s vibrant blooms while attracting pollinators

Healthy plants

Both plants ordered arrived in good condition and transitioned well when planted 2 days later. I will definitely order more next year!

Kniphofia

Plants arrived well packed, in great condition. Now happily growing. Can't wait to see them bloom! Better price than we could find on other websites too. Thank you!

healthy Creamsicle Kniphofia

Good company. I would recommend for buying plants. I am excited about the plants I ordered from you! The Torch Lilies were a good size and healthy Green leaves. Thanks for the instructions for planting the flowers.

Follow up on Creamsicle

I wrote in my previous review that my only regret was that I didn't order more of these. So I did order more Kniphofia and to my absolute delight my new shipment arrived even faster than the previous one (3 days!) and the plants this time were even larger than the first. I planted them next to the first batch and no doubt about it, the new ones were bigger than the ones that had been in the ground for 3 weeks. I'll be looking to GrowJoy every time I'm looking to order my garden stock!

Creamsicle Kniphofia

I wanted to add the Creamsicle to my garden but had a difficult time finding them available. Then I found them on GrowJoy and for a great price. The plants I received were much bigger than I had expected. My only regret is that I didn't order more, which I'm about to do.
