Plant Features

Fernleaf Dill is dwarf variety that produces an abundance of slow bolting leaves that make excellent additions to salads, sauces, with fish, eggs, rice, and lamb dishes. Dill is especially easy to grow, attracts beneficial insects and is a host plant for Swallowtail butterflies. It can be grown indoors next to a south facing window in a very deep pot. Indoor plants should be watered just as the potting mix starts to dry.

Planting Instructions:

  • - Space plants 12-18 inches apart to allow for full growth

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 5.5-6.7, prefers well-drained, fertile soil
  • - Enrich soil with compost or a balanced organic fertilizer prior to planting

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water regularly to keep the soil moist but not soggy, especially during dry periods

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Apply a light fertilizer at planting and midseason if growth seems slow

Pruning and Training:

  • - No significant pruning required; harvesting leaves and seeds can encourage further growth

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Monitor for pests such as aphids, especially on young foliage
  • - Use organic pesticides or introduce beneficial insects to manage infestations

Lovely Fernleaf Dill

Very nice quality plant. I love to use this for making homemade pickles. This year however, I have found these little beautiful Caterpillars on the plant. Doing research I found that they are Black Swallowtail Butterflies, and that they are very common on Dill. You can spray for them but if you choose not to at least you will have some of the most beautiful Butterflies alive. I also have chickens and my girls love this Dill for a snack. All around a great plant

I Am A Fan

This is the second year I have purchased Herb plants from GrowJoy and it will not be my last. The packaging is meticulous (individual partitions for each plant). The plants were considerably healthier and larger than those I previously purchased online from a large Home Improvement Store. The plants are thriving in containers on my balcony.
