  • - Height: 2-3 feet
  • - Hardiness Zone: 4-8
  • - Exposure: Full Sun
  • - Bloom Time: April-June

Plant Features

Fine Wine® Weigela Plants offer a more compact habit and smaller leaves than Wine & Roses; however, the dark burgundy foliage and the trumpet-shaped rosy-pink blossoms are very similar. Can be used in containers, perennial beds, as a low foundation plant, or in the front of borders. Weigela plants attract hummingbirds and wild birds.

Planting Instructions:

  • - Can be planted anytime the soil temps are 60F

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.5, tolerating slightly acidic to neutral soil
  • - Prefers well-drained soil; amend heavy soils with compost for better drainage

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water deeply during the first growing season to establish a strong root system
  • - Once established, moderately drought-tolerant but benefits from consistent watering during dry periods

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring to promote healthy growth and blooms
  • - Avoid over-fertilizing, which can lead to excessive foliage growth at the expense of flowers

Pruning and Training:

  • - Prune immediately after flowering to encourage new growth and maintain shape
  • - Remove dead or damaged branches in late winter or early spring

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Generally pest-resistant but monitor for aphids and spider mites
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent powdery mildew or other fungal diseases

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Tolerates cold winters and moderate heat; provide mulch to protect roots in extreme climates

This plant came in excellent condition and was very big n bushy! It's doing awesome in the garden and look forward to see how it looks in the years to come! Out of all the places you can get plants this is by far the best place.
