9.99
  • - Spacing: 12 inches
  • - Days to Harvest: 30
  • - Offers a more delicate foliage
  • - Each Quart Pot contains 1 French Thyme Herb Plant
Plant Features

French Thyme produce slightly less woody stems than the English variety and offer spicy leaves that make tasty additions to meat dishes, soups, stews, breads, salads and infused vinegars. Thyme grows best in full sun locations with well-drained soils. Plants should be sheared back after flowering to keep the foliage from getting woody. It can be grown indoors within a few feet of a east, south, or west facing window. If grown indoors, potting mix should slightly dry before watering.

Our French Thyme Herb plants are grown with a commitment to natural methods, ensuring they're healthy and robust. Guaranteed to arrive alive and thriving!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Can be planted anytime the soil temps are above 60F

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-8.0, prefers well-drained, sandy or loamy soil
  • - Amend soil with gravel or coarse sand to enhance drainage, which is critical for healthy thyme plants

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water thoroughly but allow soil to dry between waterings; thyme is drought-tolerant once established
  • - Avoid excessive watering to prevent root rot

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Generally does not need much fertilizer; a light feeding in early spring can be beneficial
  • - Over-fertilizing can lead to lush foliage with diminished flavor

Pruning and Training:

  • - Prune in early spring to maintain shape and promote denser growth
  • - Regular harvesting of the tips will also encourage a fuller plant

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Thyme is generally resistant to pests and diseases but watch for fungal issues in humid conditions
  • - Good air circulation and proper soil drainage are crucial for preventing fungal diseases

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Thyme is quite hardy and can tolerate a range of temperatures, but it may need protection from extreme cold
  • - In very cold climates, protect the plants with mulch or bring containers indoors

French Thyme

Plant was shipped in a secure manner to alleviate damage. Drooping on arrival, watered, 10 minutes later plant revived, standing about 3 tall and looking healthy. Been in ground for about a week now, showing new growth and appearing to be quite happy. On an aside I live in Hawai'i.

French Thyme

This plant and all of the others I've ordered have been delivered very quickly, within days of my order. The Thyme was beautiful and packed so very nicely that it was protected so there was damage. The prices are great and plants themselves wonderful. I would highly recommend this nursey without question.

Won't take higher temps

I took advantage of selection and filled my herb garden through GrowJoy. Plants arrived in great condition and did well. Thyme didn't care for the hotter temps (100 and over) and slowly withered.

French Thyme

We just received them, and they're very little. So far they are doing well, and I can't wait to see how big they'll be next year. I really wished they had the Lemon type available, but went with Oregano for now.

From Chelsea | April 11, 2014

French Thyme

good size and well watered, transplant was very good

From Kenneth | April 11, 2014

Good hardy French Thyme plant

The plant arrived is perfect condition.. or better stated, it survived UPS delivery. GrowJoy advised in big bold print that the package contained PERISHABLE products, but UPS, as usual, ignored the warning and delivered the plants at 7 p.m. keeping them in a hot, Phoenix baked truck all day. If only companies would stop using UPS!!!
