The Garnet Coreopsis Plant produces flower blossoms that are highlighted by a deeply colored halo surrounding the eye, which make the eye look larger-than-average, giving the appearance of shorter and fatter pink petals. This optical illusion is what makes it such a joy to grow.

Our Coreopsis Plants are grown with care, ensuring they are free from harmful pesticides and safe for your garden and the environment. Guaranteed to arrive alive and thriving!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Can be planted spring, summer, or fall

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.5
  • - Coreopsis thrives in poor to moderately fertile soils and does not require rich soil

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system
  • - Once established, Coreopsis is drought-tolerant and needs only occasional watering
  • - Avoid overwatering, as Coreopsis prefers dry to medium moisture levels

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Typically does not require fertilization; Coreopsis is a low-maintenance plant

Pruning and Training:

  • - Cut back plants by one-third in midsummer to promote a second bloom cycle
  • - Divide clumps every 2-3 years to maintain vigor and prevent overcrowding

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Generally pest-free

Blooming Indicators:

  • - Blooms from early summer to fall, providing a long season of color
  • - Flowers attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators

Light Requirements:

  • - Can tolerate light shade, particularly in hotter climates, but flowering may be reduced

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Tolerates heat and drought; performs best in well-drained soils

Companion Plants for Coreopsis:

  • - Salvia: Their spikes of blue or purple flowers complement Coreopsis' bright blooms
  • - Echinacea: Their sturdy, upright growth and colorful blooms make a striking combination with Coreopsis
  • - Gaillardia: Their warm, fiery tones enhance the yellow hues of Coreopsis
  • - Penstemon: Adds vertical interest with its spikes of tubular flowers
  • - Ornamental Grasses: Their fine texture adds movement and structure to a Coreopsis planting

Strong Healthy Coreopsis Plant

The plant arrived in excellent shape and with a bit of filtered light and water it perked right up. I noted strong roots as I was planting it. Excellent packaging!

Garnet Coreopsis

Since the Garnet is a shorter plant than the others, I placed them in a different place. Hope they love it there.

Coreopsis Plants--Filling spots in my garden

Plants always arrive in lovely shape, packed well, and ready to put in the ground. I have been happy with all of my purchases so far! This Garnet Coreopsis plant was HUGE, already over a foot tall, and very healthy.
