Plant Features

Italian Oregano is a fragrant cross between oregano and marjoram and is especially popular in tomato dishes, poultry seasoning, eggs, soups, herb breads and cheeses. Oregano grows in just about any soil location if it offers full sun. Its flowers attract pollinators.

Planting Instructions:

  • - Space plants 8-10 inches apart as oregano can spread widely

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-8.0, prefers well-drained soil
  • - Incorporate organic matter to enrich poor soils, though oregano thrives in less fertile conditions

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water when the soil feels dry to the touch; overwatering can lead to root diseases
  • - Oregano is drought-tolerant once established, requiring less frequent watering

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Light feeding once or twice a year with a balanced fertilizer is sufficient; over-fertilizing can reduce flavor

Pruning and Training:

  • - Trim back flowers to promote more leaf growth
  • - Cut back the plant in early spring to encourage bushier, new growth

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Generally pest-resistant; occasionally check for aphids or spider mites
  • - Natural insecticides or horticultural oils can manage most infestations

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Oregano can tolerate a range of temperatures; use mulch to protect roots in extremely cold or hot conditions

Italian Oregano Herb Plant

This is the first time I ever grew an oregano plant, and was happily surprised at the difference in the fragrance and the taste. It was so good in my spaghetti sauce and lasagna, and a great improvement to our homemade pizzas. I will definitely order this again! Nancy Gebhardt

Italian Oregano

Wonderful plant, wonderful price, speedy and safe shipping. What more could you ask for?

Great Selection

The only reason this review is a 4 and not a 5 is because I ordered the plants in February and didn’t receive them until the end of May. That put me behind by three weeks. The plants are small but they ship better that way. They were in great condition due to the excellent packaging. I was impressed with the selection as I live in an isolated area with a couple garden centers but they all carry the same things. Those plants are the same size for the same price and don’t look as good as the plants I received from GrowJoy!

Growin fast!

I'm so impressed with how GrowJoy ships their plants! Much better than any other company I've bought from online. The Oregano-Italian Herb plant was very healthy and transplanted well into my garden. It's growing so fast, I've already used it after only having it for 2 weeks! Highly recommended!!

Happy Oregano Planter

My order was received alive (very good sized) and very well packed. They have been planted in containers on my balcony and are flourishing. I have been ordering from GrowJoy for at least four years and have always been pleased with the results. Last year I placed my order a bit late and some of the herbs I wanted were no longer available. I ordered from two other sources and was extremely disappointed in the results. The plants were small and sickly looking and a couple did not survive.

Italian Oregano

These shipped to us in place of the Lemon Thyme, as they were out. Hope they do well, and excited to have with my food.

Love Oregano

The plant arrived is perfect condition.. or better stated, it survived UPS delivery. GrowJoy advised in big bold print that the package contained PERISHABLE products, but UPS, as usual, ignored the warning and delivered the plants at 7 p.m. keeping them in a hot, Phoenix baked truck all day. If only companies would stop using UPS!!!
