Plant Features

The Brunnera King's Ransom Siberian Bugloss Plant was first discovered in a batch of 'Jack Frost' at Terra Nova Nurseries and is being jointly released by Terra Nova and Walters Gardens, Inc. Slightly smaller than 'Jack Frost', King's Ransom Siberian Bugloss combines silver and gold for a most stunning display. A wide, irregular, creamy, light gold margin on silvery frosted leaves will eventually lighten to creamy white. Hundreds of blue forget-me-not type flowers will cover the eye-catching foliage in the spring, a gratifying delight to the eye, but no less than the variegated and silvery foliage that remains when the blooms are gone.

Our Brunnera (Siberian Bugloss) Plants are grown with care and are free from harmful pesticides, making them a safe and elegant addition to your garden. Guaranteed to arrive healthy and ready to thrive!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Best planted in spring or fall for optimal root establishment
  • - Space plants 12-18 inches apart to allow for mature growth

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.0
  • - Prefers moist, well-drained soil, rich in organic matter

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water deeply when first planted, keeping the soil evenly moist
  • - Once established, water regularly, especially during dry periods, as Brunnera prefers consistent moisture

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Apply a balanced fertilizer or organic compost in early spring to encourage strong foliage and blooms
  • - Avoid over-fertilizing, as Brunnera thrives in nutrient-rich, well-prepared soil

Pruning and Training:

  • - Remove spent flower stems after blooming to maintain appearance
  • - Cut back damaged or dead leaves in late fall or early spring to encourage fresh growth

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Brunnera is generally pest-free but may attract slugs or snails in moist conditions
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent any fungal issues in humid environments

Blooming Indicators:

  • - Blooms in early to mid-spring with delicate sprays of small, sky-blue flowers resembling forget-me-nots
