Strikingly gorgeous, you will be hard pressed to find another lavender blossom of any variety to match the impact that this Rose of Sharon will have in your landscape. Leafing-out and blooming late, don't even begin to think that this Proven Winners® selection has failed you. Known to attract butterflies, wild birds, bees, and hummingbirds, this late bloomer provides amazing color, even in coastal areas, when most other flowering shrubs have ceased to bloom. A close look will reveal wine red venation peeking out from the frilly center of this beautiful blossom. Moderately salt tolerant, this Rose of Sharon simply needs a bit of protection from direct salt spray. Simply wonderful!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Can be planted anytime the soil temps are 60F

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.0, though varies by species
  • - Prefers well-drained soil with organic matter for most bush varieties

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water thoroughly when first planted, allowing soil to dry slightly between waterings
  • - Once established, most bushes are drought-tolerant but benefit from regular watering during dry spells

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring to promote healthy growth
  • - Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can promote excessive foliage growth at the expense of blooms or fruit

Pruning and Training:

  • - Prune in late winter or early spring to control size and shape, depending on the bush variety
  • - Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches to promote healthy growth

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Most bushes are pest-resistant, though monitor for aphids, mites, or scale insects depending on the species
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues in dense growth

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Tolerates heat and cold once established

Wonderful Shrubs - Lavender Chiffon Rose of Sharon

I am a connoisseur of the Rose of Sharon shrub, I buy a different color every year. Was a bit doubtful about ordering one in a four inch pot. I was very impressed and glad that I made the decision to place the order! Lots of healthy foliage...very well developed root system. What I received was healthier and better than one in a gallon pot! This place is great!
