Plant Features

One of the most beautiful of all of the succulents, the Lilacina Echeveria features gorgeous rosettes arranged in wonderful symmetry. The sturdy, plump, spoon-shaped leaves are silvery grey until the sunlight reveals a subtle pink blush. In the late winter/spring it provides coral colored flowers atop a lean, arching stem. Perfect for container growing - try adding a few different succulents and see what beauty you can create!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Plant in spring for optimal growth
  • - Space plants 12-18 inches apart to allow for their mature size

Soil Preparation:

  • - Prefers well-draining soil; use a cactus or succulent mix
  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.0
  • - Avoid heavy, moisture-retentive soils to prevent root rot

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water thoroughly but infrequently; allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings
  • - Reduce watering during the winter months to prevent overwatering

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Use a diluted, balanced fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer)
  • - Avoid over-fertilizing, as it can lead to weak growth and reduced blooming

Pruning and Training:

  • - Remove dead or yellowing leaves to maintain a tidy appearance
  • - Prune back leggy growth to encourage bushier growth and a fuller shape

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Watch for mealybugs and aphids; treat with insecticidal soap if needed

Blooming Indicators:

  • - Produces tall flower spikes with bell-shaped flowers in shades of pink or coral, typically in late spring to summer
  • - Flowers attract pollinators such as bees and hummingbirds

Light Requirements:

  • - Prefers bright, indirect sunlight; can tolerate some direct sun
  • - Needs at least 6 hours of light daily for optimal growth

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Thrives in USDA zones 9-11
  • - Prefers temperatures between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C)
  • - Protect from frost; bring indoors if temperatures drop below 30°F
