Plant Features

Lotus Vine Plants produce trailing vines with flower clusters at the ends of the stems. The flowers look like a beak or flickering flame. The bright reddish-orange flowers contrast nicely with the silver-gray, needle-like foliage. It is most often grown in containers and hanging baskets. Parrot's Beak plants grow best in full sun with well-drained soils. The best flowering time is with the cooler weather of spring and early summer. Flowers will stop blooming once the heat of summer arrives.

Planting Instructions:

  • - Plant in spring after the last frost date

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.0

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water moderately, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 2-3 weeks during the growing season
  • - Avoid over-fertilizing, which can lead to excessive foliage at the expense of blooms

Pruning and Maintenance:

  • - Pinch back new growth to encourage a fuller, bushier plant

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Generally pest-resistant, but monitor for aphids and spider mites
  • - Treat any infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil

Light Requirements:

  • - Prefers full sun but can tolerate light shade, especially in hot climates

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Can be grown as an annual in cooler climates or as a perennial in zones 9-11

Great plants

I received these 2 plants and was very happy with their packaging. They were a bit dry when they got here but that's to be expected. Luckily they've survived and are doing well. I will gladly buy from GrowJoy again.

It's growing with joy

I was amazed how nicely it was packed. Good sized, healthy looking plant. It's growing beautifully now. Hopefully it will bloom in Texas weather. Thank you for your care.

Healthy arrival

First time using GrowJoy. Purchased 3 Lotus Vines (Parrots Beak) plants to hang on my front porch in full sun. They arrived packaged well and healthy. I promptly planted them and hung them and so far so good! Looking forward to watching them grow and ordering more plants from GrowJoy.
