Planting Instructions:

  • - Best planted in spring or fall for optimal root development
  • - Space plants 12-18 inches apart to allow for full growth and air circulation

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.5
  • - Prefers well-drained, sandy or loamy soil; tolerates poor soils

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water deeply until established, then allow the soil to dry between waterings
  • - Drought-tolerant once mature; avoid overwatering

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring if soil is poor, though Gaillardia typically thrives without additional feeding
  • - Avoid over-fertilizing to prevent leggy growth

Pruning and Training:

  • - Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous blooming
  • - Cut back spent plants in late fall or early spring to maintain a tidy appearance

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Gaillardia is generally pest and disease resistant, though aphids and leafhoppers may occasionally appear
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent mildew

Blooming Indicators:

  • - Blooms from early summer through fall, with daisy-like flowers in warm hues of red, yellow, and orange

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Hardy in USDA zones 3-9, tolerates heat and drought conditions

Companion Plants for Gaillardia:

  • - Rudbeckia: Complements Gaillardia’s warm tones with its bold, yellow blooms
  • - Echinacea: Adds height and vibrant color to the garden, pairing well with Gaillardia’s bright flowers
  • - Achillea: Its long-lasting blooms complement Gaillardia’s vivid colors

Great colors

These arrived small but healthy and were planted per instructions. They already had colorful blooms on them and are doing well so far. I'm excited to see the growth next season.

STUNNING!

This is a stunning and healthy plant. Wow. The flowers are incredible. I'm sad they are sold out - would order a bunch more! Overall, I think the quart size plants do much better through shipping.

Drove my hummingbirds crazy.

Really great splash of color that brought so many bees to my garden. A definite buy of more of these next season. On a side note, GroJoy has great packing , everything arrived in mint condition.

Love this larger gaillardia

I've made made gaillardia and milkweed the heart of my butterfly garden and these were flowering even before they were planted. All of the gaillardia and asclepias plants from Growjoy have been great.
