Planting Instructions:

  • - Can be planted spring, summer or fall

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 5.5-7.5
  • - Well-draining, sandy, or loamy soil; Artemisia thrives in poor to moderately fertile soil

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water sparingly; Artemisia is drought-tolerant and prefers dry to medium moisture levels
  • - Allow soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Use a light application of balanced fertilizer in early spring if soil is poor
  • - Over-fertilization can cause the plant to become leggy; Artemisia generally thrives without additional feeding

Pruning and Training:

  • - Prune back in early spring to encourage bushier growth and maintain shape
  • - Cut back to the ground in late fall to prepare for winter, especially in colder climates

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Artemisia is naturally resistant to most pests and diseases
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues in humid conditions

Blooming Indicators:

  • - Grown primarily for its silvery-gray foliage rather than its insignificant yellow flowers

Light Requirements:

  • - Can tolerate light shade, but foliage may become less vibrant

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Thrives in temperatures between 65-85°F
  • - Tolerates heat and drought; struggles in overly wet conditions

  • - Salvia: Their vibrant flowers create a stunning contrast with Artemisia’s silvery leaves
  • - Lavender: Complements Artemisia with its fragrance and purple blooms
  • - Echinacea: Adds height and color to the garden alongside Artemisia
  • - Ornamental Grasses: Their texture and movement enhance Artemisia's striking foliage

From Susan | May 17, 2019

stellar customer service

Could not be happier with the service and product. I ordered plants from GrowJoy  2.5 years ago, and last fall, my husband killed them. This order was to replace those poor plants. Received them faster than expected, with a bonus of other beautiful flowers that I promptly added to my garden. Everything has been great every time I have ordered, and the extras are truly appreciated - I used my reward points to pay for shipping. Thanks!
