Plant Features

San Marzano tomatoes are garden staples, celebrated for their elongated, meaty fruits that define Italian cuisine. This heirloom variety yields bright red tomatoes weighing 4 to 6 ounces, with thick, firm skin—perfect for sauces, canning, or roasting. The flesh is dense and low in seeds, delivering a rich, sweet tomato flavor with a balanced tang.

Why grow San Marzano? From Italy’s Campania region, this indeterminate plant reaches 4–6 feet with support, producing a plentiful crop through the season. It’s a vigorous pick for gardeners wanting authentic, tasty tomatoes with no notable disease resistance, thriving until frost.

Grown naturally and pesticide-free, our San Marzano starter plants arrive strong and ready to perform in your garden. Nurtured with care, they deliver a robust harvest of these iconic tomatoes.

C ould not believe it

This plant just keeps putting more and more tomatoes on it. I have had to use so many claps and zip ties to hold the clusters of heavy tomatoes up so they will not break. I know when they ripen I will be canning tomatoes. I will get 2 of these plants next year.
