Vera Jameson Sedum Plants produces round, smoky, blue-green, succulent leaves that mature to a dusky purple. In the winter, leave the star-shaped pink flowers to dry to provide some cold-weather interest and then prune back to the ground before the first new growth appears in the spring. This clump-forming, salt tolerant sedum is perfect for rock gardens, along rock walls or in containers. It is also a host plant for the Phoebus Parnassian butterfly.

Our Sedum Plants are grown with care and are completely free from harmful pesticides, making them a safe and hardy addition to your garden. Guaranteed to arrive healthy and ready to thrive!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Best planted in spring or fall for optimal root establishment
  • - Space plants 12-24 inches apart, depending on variety, to allow for mature growth

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.5
  • - Prefers well-drained soil, tolerates poor or sandy soils

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water deeply when first planted, allowing the soil to dry between waterings
  • - Once established, Sedum is highly drought-tolerant and thrives with minimal watering

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Sedum typically thrives without fertilizer, but a light, balanced fertilizer in early spring can support growth
  • - Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to weak, leggy growth

Pruning and Training:

  • - Deadhead spent blooms to maintain appearance, though Sedum heads often provide winter interest
  • - Cut back stems in early spring before new growth emerges to maintain a tidy form

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Sedum is generally pest-free and deer-resistant, though aphids may occasionally be an issue
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent any potential fungal issues

Blooming Indicators:

  • - Blooms from late summer through fall with clusters of tiny, star-shaped flowers in shades of pink, red, or yellow

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Hardy in USDA zones 3-9, tolerates heat and cold once established

Companion Plants for Sedum:

  • - Echinacea: Complements Sedum with its bright, daisy-like blooms and similar drought tolerance
  • - Coreopsis: Provides a continuous display of yellow blooms that contrast beautifully with Sedum’s fleshy leaves
  • - Salvia: Adds vertical spikes of blue or purple to complement Sedum’s low-growing form
  • - Achillea: Complements Sedum with its clusters of long-lasting flowers and pollinator appeal
  • - Lavender: Adds a fragrant, drought-tolerant companion that pairs beautifully with Sedum’s resilient nature

Summer Plantings - Stonecrop

I was reluctant about ordering (10 new plants) in the middle of summer, but they were plants I wanted and I had holes in my garden where they needed to be planted - so I took a chance and I'm so glad I did - all 10 plants were in excellent condition and ready to plant! They were carefully packaged and arrived without any damage (clever containers). I will never be reluctant again when orderings from Growjoy!!!

Beautiful , healthy Sedum plants

This is the first time I have ordered from this company. I was apprehensive to order plants online since you are not able to see the condition and health of the plants. I was very pleased when my order arrived. The size of the pots was the best feature. I was also impressed with the condition of the plants. I could immediately put them in the ground. I have since placed an additional order for different plants and was very satisfied with them as well.

The Sedum plant looked so fresh in the package, and it's doing really well in my flower bed. So fresh and healthy!
