Voodoo Sedum Plants produces deep red succulent foliage that provides a nice background to offset the bright-pink flowers that bloom in summer. Its mat forming habit can be used in walkways or along the edge of the border. Plant in well-drained soil of average to low fertility. Easy to grow, rabbit resistant, good for cut flowers, drought and heat tolerant, tolerates poor soil if well drained. It is also a host plant for the Phoebus Parnassian butterfly.

Our Sedum Plants are grown with care and are completely free from harmful pesticides, making them a safe and hardy addition to your garden. Guaranteed to arrive healthy and ready to thrive!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Best planted in spring or fall for optimal root establishment
  • - Space plants 12-24 inches apart, depending on variety, to allow for mature growth

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.5
  • - Prefers well-drained soil, tolerates poor or sandy soils

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water deeply when first planted, allowing the soil to dry between waterings
  • - Once established, Sedum is highly drought-tolerant and thrives with minimal watering

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Sedum typically thrives without fertilizer, but a light, balanced fertilizer in early spring can support growth
  • - Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to weak, leggy growth

Pruning and Training:

  • - Deadhead spent blooms to maintain appearance, though Sedum heads often provide winter interest
  • - Cut back stems in early spring before new growth emerges to maintain a tidy form

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Sedum is generally pest-free and deer-resistant, though aphids may occasionally be an issue
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent any potential fungal issues

Blooming Indicators:

  • - Blooms from late summer through fall with clusters of tiny, star-shaped flowers in shades of pink, red, or yellow

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Hardy in USDA zones 3-9, tolerates heat and cold once established

Companion Plants for Sedum:

  • - Echinacea: Complements Sedum with its bright, daisy-like blooms and similar drought tolerance
  • - Coreopsis: Provides a continuous display of yellow blooms that contrast beautifully with Sedum’s fleshy leaves
  • - Salvia: Adds vertical spikes of blue or purple to complement Sedum’s low-growing form
  • - Achillea: Complements Sedum with its clusters of long-lasting flowers and pollinator appeal
  • - Lavender: Adds a fragrant, drought-tolerant companion that pairs beautifully with Sedum’s resilient nature

hardy plant

This sedum has thrived in a hot dry spot, color varies from burgundy to more green with reddish tinges depending on time of year, and flowers in mid summer. Couldn't be easier to grow.

A Beauty!

I recently received the Voodoo Sedum 2.5 inch pot. It arrived quickly, in very healthy condition, and packaged quite well. It loves light! I would definitely order from GrowJoy again in the future.

Summer plantings - Voodoo

I was reluctant about ordering (10 new plants) in the middle of summer, but they were plants I wanted and I had holes in my garden where they needed to be planted - so I took a chance and I'm so glad I did - all 10 plants were in excellent condition and ready to plant! They were carefully packaged and arrived without any damage (clever containers). I will never be reluctant again when orderings from Growjoy!!!
