Whirling Butterflies Gaura is an open, airy plant that bears long, graceful stems of rosy buds and spikes of bright white flowers with abundant, frilly-looking, long white stamens. Gaura plants tolerate urban pollution, heat and humidity, and a wide range of soils, from well-drained, fertile ones to dry and acidic. They do not however like heavy, wet soil. Deer and rabbits tend to avoid Gaura.
